Suffield Acad. 75, ASD 0
SUFFIELD, Feb. 6, 2002 -- Suffield Academy scored the most points it has in over three years after a 75-0 win over American School for the Deaf to improve to 11-4 on the year.

Sarah Glass (103) set the tone coming right off the bat pinning her opponent in the first minute. Sei Shimura (135), David Coe (119), undefeated Eric Rakus(275) Rich Tyson (125) and post-graduate Dan LaMountain (215) each had first period pins for the Tigers.

Coe pinned in 17 seconds, his fastest pin of the season. Sean Green (112) won by technical fall in a tough match while teammate Will Taylor (189) had a major decision, 15-4.

Suffield took four forfeits at some of its stronger weight classes with New England contenders Makto Hirabayashi and Rollie Hermoso and first-year wrestler David Lewis getting a free pass against ASD.

Suffield was only the second team to shutout ASD this season. Pomfret also shut out ASD but Pomfret received five forfeits and had three close matches. Storm King was schedule to participate but did not show up.

The 2001-02 campaign has been very successful for Suffield Academy with three close losses to Williston (1 point), Choate (8 points) and Pomfret (10) Suffield has been hurt with the loss of its varsity wrestler at 140 pounds the past 11 matches.

With one match left and a week away from Western New England championship tournament, Suffield is making its name
r
enown once again after being put in a slump for a decade and a half. Head coach Roger Moran, now assisted by Tom Roselli in his first year coaching at Suffield, see a bright future with the program.

Suffield faces Avon Old Farms next Wednesday with WNEISWA championships the following Saturday.
