Mt. Anthony, Vt., 32, Danbury 27: Mount Anthony, Vermont won eight of 14 bouts to snap Danbury High's 96-match unbeaten streak with a 32-27 win in Bennington, Vt., on Friday.

"This was a great match," Danbury coach Ricky Shook told the Bennington (Vt.) Banner. "We wanted to come here and wrestle the best in New England to see how we stood up. We came within one match of them."

Mt. Anthony (10-0) won four of the first six matches but Danbury won the next two matches with Dennis Stone (140) earning a 10-3 decision and Steve Scott (145) winning by pin to seize an 18-14 lead, sending the large
Danbury contingent into a frenzy and silencing the home folks for the first time.

But the host Patriots, who have not lost at home in seven years, won four straight including two by pins in the first period to clinch the match, 32-18.

Mt. Anthony's Rick Serraro earned a tough 7-5 decision over Danbury's Scott Brisson at 171.

Over $1,700 was raised for the family of Mt. Anthony manager Aaron Sullivan, which lost six members in a tragic fire a week earlier. A moment of silence was observed prior to the match. A donation from Friends of Danbury wrestling was included in the total amount of money raised. Danbury is 5-1.

St. Bernard's 34, Ledyard 33 -- St. Bernard High School opened the Eastern Connecticut Conference dual meet wrestling season on Dec. 20 with a shocking victory over Ledyard, 34-33. It was the first time in school history that the Saints had beaten Ledyard. The Saints (1-0) won only one match last season, while the three-time ECC champion Colonels had lost only one league match in the last two years.
"This is the first time that St. Bernard has defeated Ledyard in wrestling and we've had a program since 1971," St. Bernard coach Bob Walsh said to the New London Day. "Pretty cool, huh?" Ledyard fell to 0-1.
Berlin 82, Farmington 0 Berlin won all 13 classes by pin or forfeit to win its season-opening dual meet at home.
Southington 60, Hall 11  Five Southington wrestlers pinned in under one minute as the Knights opened their dual meet season with a victory in West Hartford. Matt Florian (152) won in 20 seconds while teammates Larry Liseo (189) pinned in 32 seconds, Colin Sepko (171) pinned in 36 seconds, Mike Szymczak (125) pinned in 51 seconds and Chris Lee (140) pinned in 55 seconds.
East Hartford 52, New Britain 14 New Britain High captain Erik Bee, Ryan Pacyna and Mark Roberts won bouts for the Hurricanes (1-1), who yielded 18 points due to three forfeits. Roberts' 13-7 decision at 119 pounds was impressive since he has been wrestling for only three weeks.
Bristol Central 57, Plainville 18 The Blue Devils took an 18-0 lead but Bristol Central was too strong with its eight seniors to earn the victory.
Bristol Eastern 68, Windsor 9  Eight pins helped lift Eastern to a CCC decision over Windsor in the season-opening dual meet for the Lancers.
Windham Tech 46, Portland 36 -- Brothers Ernie Rivera (103) and Eric Rivera (112) won by pin to lead Windham Tech to a win over COC rival Portland. Tyler Lucey (140) won in 23 seconds for Tech while Dave Santangelo (189) pinned in 15 seconds and Chris Cote (215) won in 44 seconds for the Beavers.
