Killingly rallies past Griswold, Eastern rolls
Killingly received three pins in the final three matches from David Loomis (171), Justin McPeak (189) and Josh Barreto (215) to slip past Griswold, 40-38. Six pins lifted the Redmen to the victory. … Seven NFA wrestlers won by pin to lead the Wildcats past St. Bernard, 57-24. … Undefeated No. 9 Bristol Eastern (3-0) rolled past Fitch, 48-18 with pins from Nate Ledger (152), Dan Strong (160) and Max Saglimbeni (119). … Bacon Academy outlasted East Lyme, 44-33 to earn an ECC victory.

No. 1 Danbury easily handles No. 2 Ledyard
The match between the top two teams in the state coaches poll wasn’t much of a battle after all as No. 1 Danbury easily handled No. 2 Ledyard, 54-14 with six pins. Ledyard sophomore T.J. Hepburn, normally at 125, jumped up to 130 to challenge and beat defending Open champion Nick Weyer, 4-1. "We want to wrestle top competition as early in the season as we can,” Ledyard coach Steve Bilheimer told the Danbury News Times. "Right now, Danbury is a much better team than we are. But my guys never quit, and I think we gave Danbury a better match tonight than we did last year." Danbury’s Tyler Howe had an eight-second pin at 112 pounds. … Avon had six pins to beat rival Canton, 60-18. … Amity outlasted Hand, 44-30, to win its first dual meet of the season. … Conard slipped past Bristol Central, 36-34 …

Eastern prevails in top 10 battle with Rockville
No. 9 Bristol Eastern outlasted No. 7 Rockville, 28-26 in a thrilling battle of top 10 programs. Four matches were decided by one point and there was only pin in the bout. Dan Bergeron (145) had a 1-point win for Eastern (2-0) while Chris Scoppetta (215), Justin Dess (130) and Matt Lavoie (135) each prevailed. Rockville forfeited two weight classes (160, 119). … Two pins from Gavin Newton-Tanzer (135) and Steve Flathers clinched a win by Stratford over Weston/Barlow, 40-36. … Griswold rallied from a 12-3 deficit to beat Lyman Memorial, 42-32.

Top 10 coaches poll
Danbury on top of poll, Ledyard moves up to No. 2
Fresh off its big win over nationally-ranked Mt. Anthony, Danbury remained atop the weekly state coaches poll with all nine first place votes. Ledyard moved up to No. 2 after winning the Wildcat Invitational (NFA) and Windham slipped to No. 3, despite rallying to win the Lancer Invitational. New Milford and Bristol Eastern debuted in the top 10.
