Sweep for blizzard
The Blizzard of 2013's work is now complete. The ECC, Berkshire League and NCCC cancelled their post-season tournaments Monday. Every league tournament was called off because of delays caused by towns and cities removing over 30 inches of snow from the weekend blizzard. Many schools around the state postponing school on Monday and Tuesday because roads haven't been cleared enough for safe travel. The CCC cancelled its tournament on Friday while the SWC, SCC and FCIAC cancelled their tournaments on Sunday.

Sunday, February 10
FCIAC, SWC, SCC cancel tournaments
Just like the snowflakes from the Blizzard of 2013, conference wrestling tournaments are falling from the sky. Three tournaments have been cancelled because of delays caused by towns and cities removing over 30 inches of snow from the weekend blizzard. Many schools around the state are postponing school on Monday because roads haven't been cleared enough for safe travel. The CCC cancelled its tournament on Friday while the SWC, SCC and FCIAC cancelled their tournaments on Sunday. The Berkshire League plans to hold its tournament on Tuesday, site to be announced. The ECC hopes to hold its tournament Tuesday at Fitch with the top 8 seeds in each class beginning at 2:30 p.m. with the finals scheduled for 7:15 p.m. No word on the NCCC Tournament which was rescheduled for Monday in Avon. But school was postponed in Avon last night.

Sunday, February 10
FCIAC, ECC, BL, SCC tourneys postponed
Five leagues have postponed their post-season wrestling tournaments due to this weekend's blizzard. The ECC has postponed their tournament until Monday and Tuesday. Wrestling begins Mondayat 4 p.m., at Fitch in Groton and will continue until 9:15 p.m. On Tuesday, wrestling begins at 6 p.m. with the finals, consolation finals and fifth place bouts. ... The FCIAC tournament is being moved to Monday and scaled back. It will be a two-day tournament for the top eight seeds in each respective weight class. Wrestling will begin at 4 p.m. at New Canaan High on Monday and Tuesday. ...  The Berkshire League has postponed their BL tournament until Monday. It will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Gilbert School in Winsted. ... The SCC will hold their tournament on Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m. in Shelton with the top 8 seeds in each class. ... The SWC Tournament was postponed but the status of the tournament is undetermined. ... In the CCC, the post-season wrestling tournament has been cancelled.

Wednesday, February 6
Farmington rallies to complete undefeated season, win title
In front of a roaring crowd of around 500, No. 4 Farmington rallied from a 10-point deficit and won the final three bouts of the match to beat No. 2 Simsbury, 24-23, to finish the season undefeated and winning the CCC West championship. It took two major decisions and a triple OT win to lift Farmington (32-0, 6-0) in the final three matches. … Conard built an early lead and held off Hall, 34-33 in West Hartford. … New Milford handed New Fairfield its first SWC loss with a 47-26 decision. … Platt High (28-5) tied a school record for most wins in a single season after a 38-26 win over cross-town rival Maloney. … Foran (23-6) won their second straight SCC B Division title with a 49-17 win over Cheshire. Foran also set a school record for most wins in a single year. … Terryville finished 18-3 with a 58-20 decision over Portland … Branford (17-4) finished the season with a 58-18 win over New Haven. … In the CCC North, defending champion Glastonbury (19-3, 6-0) won their second straight title with a 39-29 win over South Windsor (15-4, 5-1). … Platt Tech/West Haven (11-13, 3-0) easily beat shorthanded Hartford Classical/Capital Prep (1-10, 0-3) 51-12 to win the Constitution State Conference title. ... Hartford co-op beat Rockville 59-15 to win the CCC East championship.

Tuesday, February 5
Warde wins another FCIAC Eastern title
No. 5 Fairfield Warde (20-2, 7-0) shutout Norwalk, 78-0 and clinched the FCIAC Eastern Division championship for the eighth straight year. The Mustangs have won each Eastern Division title since they split from Fairfield High in 2005. … Cross-town rival Fairfield Ludlowe (25-8, 6-1 FCIAC East) finished second with a 64-12 decision over Harding. Ludlowe set a new single season record for wins. … Brunswick School (22-2) closed out the regular season with a 74-6 route over Trinity School in preparation for this weekend’s WNEISWA Tournament at Taft School in Watertown. … No. 1 Danbury (16-2, 7-0 FCIAC West) finished the regular season with a 67-9 win over Greenwich with eight pins.

Championships on the line Wednesday
Conference championships will be on the line Wednesday in several matches across the state. The biggest match is probably between No. 2 Simsbury (22-0, 5-0) and No. 4 Farmington (31-0, 5-0) for the CCC West championship in Simsbury. Both are looking for their first undefeated seasons. … In the CCC North, South Windsor (15-3, 5-0) and defending champion Glastonbury (18-3, 5-0) will battle in Glastonbury for the championship. … In the CCC East, Hartford (6-4, 4-0) needs to beat winless Rockville (0-18, 0-3) to win its first league title in over 20 years. … In the CCC South, Bristol Eastern (17-3, 5-0) has already clinched the league title but the Lancers host cross-town rival Bristol Central (6-8, 2-3). … Platt Tech/West Haven (10-13, 2-0) needs to beat Hartford Classical/Capital Prep (1-9, 0-2) to win the Constitution State Conference title. … In the SCC A, Hand (16-5, 4-0) hosts Xavier (17-3, 4-0) with the winner taking home the crown. In the SCC B, Foran (20-6, 4-0) can clinch its second straight B title with a win over Cheshire (10-3, 3-1).

Monday, Feb. 4
Top 10 remains static
No new teams joined the top 10 in the state coaches poll this week although Windham and Xavier swapped positions. Windham (23-3) moved up to No. 6 while Xavier (19-4) slipped one spot to No. 7. ... The 2013 FCIAC Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at New Canaan High. Wrestling begins Friday at 4:30 p.m. with the round of 16 with the quarterfinals following immediately. On Saturday, the semifinals and consolation quarterfinals begin at 10 a.m. with the consolation semifinals at noon and the third place and fifth place bouts at 2 p.m. The finals begin at 4 p.m.
